Opening up 2012, we decided it was time to expand the brand & open up to retailers all over the world. This was a decision we made back in 2011 to hold off on as we focus on quality control, scheduling, organization, etc. Now that we have opened up that door we have already opened up several accounts.

139 North San Fernando Blvd. in Burbank is where you can find Backside Burbank. Although we have opened several accounts, this one is very special to us considering it is the first to receive their first delivery.

We like to build genuine relationships with anyone who works with us so we have been personally delivering orders to our new retailers. We'd like to thank everyone over at Backside we appreciate each & everyone of you. They posted a quick blog about us on their page, check it out.

Last week Mateo headed out to La Brea to work on two different projects with Asap Rocky & the Black Scale fam. The project consisted of a blacked out version of an original Old Dirty Bastard shot. It was definitely great working with two huge inspirations to us over at DYNT, we have been following the ASAP for a minute. In the midst of all the work there was always some downtime to take advantage of some dice rolling, previewing some videos, & talking projects & fashion. It was a madhouse at the opening ceremony this past Saturday at the Huf warehouse. Enjoy some pics below:

Another year has come to a successful end, & now it's time to look back on the past. Throughout this past year we have matured as a brand, thrown some epic events, met some great people, & made a solid name for ourselves. Lets go over some of our 2011 Memories:

Product:

Individual Vs. Society Ali Tee: I'm sure a majority of our newer supporters have never seen this shirt or heard about it. This shirt was definitely released before it's time, we don't re-release much but the design may have another chance to shine again in 2012, but if you got one of the 1st release, cherish it.

The Fuck Tradition Snapback: This snapback made an entrance this past Fall & has caught everyone's eyes whether they liked it or not. We aren't afraid to express how we feel through our product so considering this slogan is our 1st Commandment, you can plan on seeing more of this in the near future.

All Rights Deserved Hoodie: This was our first hoodie to ever be released & it did quite well for itself, with its strong slogan "All Right DESERVED". This will be available for purchase in a couple colorways coming to a store near you.

Duck Crewnecks: This crewneck has become a sought out DYNT product, it sold out in-store in 2 days, if you want to get your hands on one, theres only a handful left available Online Only.

EVENTS

Magic/S.L.A.T.E. 2011

MAGIC/S.L.A.T.E. 2011 in both February & August was our first few times attending the show with our brand, Las Vegas is the perfect home for such a show. Great Networking, great experience, even better parties & now that we got the feel of it, you can expect a lot more from us in the new year.

LA's very own Brooklyn Projects hosted a photo exhibit at their shop for Mateo, we also dropped a collaboration tee that day.

DYNT SUMMER PRIVATE POOL PARTY BBQ & RAMP JAM:

Last summer was dubbed the craziest summer ever by everyone on the crew, we threw a pool party in the 107 degree weather. Free hot dogs & burgers including free shirts & shredding our mini ramp intoxicated!

DYNT IN-STORE EVENTS:

We have thrown many events this year at our shop in Ontario & they have never failed to be epic. Events ranging from our product releases, collabs, listening party, pop up shops, & more! Everyone knows DYNT can throw a party.

PEOPLE:

In 2011 we met a lot of ill industry friends, whether it was sharing words, working alongside, collaborating, introducing, even shooting.

There's plenty more that I haven't got a chance to get to, but I definitely gotta wrap this up.... but we can't forget Mr. Swag Is Dead Himself!:

This past week we were featured on Swag Syndicate's "Top 5 Brands to look out for in 2012". This was the perfect way to close out our first year after the rebrand, & we plan on upholding to that standard going into the new year. Which brings us to our 3rd Commandment, "Stay Genuine". We continue to make sure that anything we do related to the brand is 100% genuine, whether it be our product, visuals, future collaborations, etc. Over the past year we have found this to be very important to our brand & the relationships we build. When it comes to DYNT Product, we produce garments that we genuinely like & appreciate, we don't plan on over saturating the market with product that we think will sell just to sell off gimmicks. Everything we do is a complete reflection of our crew & what we are into. When it comes to future collaborations, or even our stockist, we plan on building relationships before doing business just so it is authentic & not just strictly business. So next time you plan on making that next move, whatever it may be, make sure it's GENUINE for 2012.

This past Thursday we celebrated the first part to our 1 Year Anniversary Celebration & Collaboration Tee Release with Everybody's Rival in Hollywood. The Villa Lounge couldn't have been a better venue for the celebration as people rolled in right as the clock struck 10. The event was a great turnout with both floors of the venue packed up. It was good seeing industry friends from such brands as Black Scale, Twelvebar, Blonde Locks, Maliceous Skateboard Co, LAX2JFK, New Era, & More! Thurzday came out as a special guest performer & kept the crowd live, with Spintelect closing out the night with his set. It was great to see all our friends, supporters, & all the new faces as well. Now that Black Friday has passed & all the craze is dying down we got a chance to go over some of the new product the we released for Black Friday. Above is the red & black "Fuck Tradition" snapback. One thing that is special about our "Fuck Tradition" Snapback is that they are deep crown so our bigger sized heads fit them with ease.

We also dropped a classic snapback fit in the "University" You design in a grey and navy. This hat already sold out in it's first day, we will be restocking this week. It is available online now & will be shipped out next week when the restock comes in.

The "Expect More" Crewneck was a favorite when it released this past summer, we brought it back as a limited release for Black Friday on a navy crewneck. We have a few left make sure you pick up before it is too late.

We dropped a "University U" Tee in Turquoise & White. The shirt features a clean and simple aesthetic in a popular color scheme.

The white & gold "Free Yourself" tee was probably the fastest selling tee for Black Friday. It featured our "Free Yourself" Quote on the back in all gold. Available Online Now.

Last but not least, we dropped our "California" Beanie in 4 colors to kick off the winter season. We gave tons of these away for free with purchases over this weekend. Talk is definitely very cheap now in 2011, it almost seems like you can't take a majority of people's word for things. But in this case, our boy Rob aka "Maliceous Skates" proved to be one of the few that back their shit up. Rob has been telling me about a skateboard company that he has been planning for months even years & is now set to release his first line of decks this season, not to mention some merchandise on the side. MLCS Co. is definitely about to be one of the next top skateboard brands to be pushed with the real street lifestyle behind it. Their first lookbook was shot this past weekend by Fairfax very own, Sagan. I got a chance to drop by the shoot and knock out a "WDYWT" with Rob, we also have a "Day in the Life" video coming out soon. Stay Tuned!

If you don't, smh this is the time to update your music playlist, your welcome.lol But for the past few weeks, I have had this one track stuck on repeat. It gives me a powerful, really tuff, I don't give a fuck type mindset and I appreciate it. Especially by the way it begins "You Better Fuckin Reconize That Fuckin Name Right Now, ASAP". It's a bittersweet feeling being able to have a brand & design a product that people are hyped on. We know we are still infants in this industry and with that mentality, we stay hungry and work hard. Most of our product is hand printed at our warehouse, so we oversee the product as it's being made. But it's still that first screen swipe that has us impatient & excited to see the outcome. So that same hyped feeling our supporters get when they see our new products roll out that is the same feeling we still get to this day. Our "Duck" Crewneck samples just came in last night, from the second I laid eyes on them I just wanted to throw one on. It's funny because Wezzie walked in wearing one with the samples in his hand. We are pretty impressed on the outcome, definitely great quality work from Danielle, who handles most of our cutting & sewing. These will be releasing next weekend in Maroon & Navy. I recommend you pick one up fast because our "Duck" tees sold out in a week, & my phone has already been bombarded with text messages regarding the crews. Thank you for all the support we want everyone to know that we appreciate those who have been down with us since the beginning. We have something very special coming up for you all.

Event | Everybody's Rival Launch Party

It was a packed house last Saturday at the Turntable Lab on Fairfax for the Everybody's Rival Launch Party. The event was hosted by Spintelect, KB, Fern, & DJ of Everybody's Rival. They announced on Saturday that they are a new media group that's gonna bring 100% genuine productions to the industry. The party consisted of familiar faces, some good music, & good people.

Spintelect is one of my new favorite DJ's, he played nothing but good shit including some Diplomats.

Even Jesus came out to the party. Funny story is when we got off the freeway on Fairfax, Wezzie pointed out Jesus standing on the sidewalk, he wasn't even walking. Not even 15 minutes later he shows up at the party. Either it was really jesus or he's really quick, had to have been a 2 mile walk.

You know Danielle Jocelyn who occasionally shows up in our blog posts, well she is part of the ER team, & helped put on the event.

Always good to see Noa James, Him & Jesus toasted then threw up the west.

Events | Loud & Obnoxious 4 yr Anniversary

The Loud & Obnoxious crew recently moved into their bigger facility in the outskirts of P-town which looks great. Now on top of that accomplishment the just celebrated 4 years of being in business with their clothing brand. We have known Vince & his crew for a couple years now & they are definitely a driven group. At the direction they are headed, I'm sure they will easily bag another 4 years under their belt easily.

Supporters lined up early to get their hands on some new product from the L&O Camp.

I thought this was pretty creative, L&O sampled their very own Beer in collaboration with Kooshian & Parada. They titled it the "Widowmaker IPA" & released a commemorative tee to go with it.

Gabe Salazar managed to beat L&O's Preston in a game of S.K.A.T.E.

I got out there and did a couple tricks before it was back to shooting.

Sean Lyles is a talented photographer out of Arizona, we got a chance to catch up with him on this week's "WDYWT" segment. I met Sean mildly two years back at Nick Diamond's birthday party at Hyde, my homegirl Erika introduced us. He was staying in AZ at the time but happened to be in town. Since then he has been making major moves, & now he is a Los Angeles local, running the Black Scale Los Angeles location. We got a chance to knock this out and learn more about his story while working on the "Behind the Brand" video for Mega. Yes, we are a clothing brand, DYNT, & if you are reading this & you haven't put two & two together; it stands for "Do You, Not Them." It pretty much means we promote Individuality & genuinely cosign those who do so.

Our Product:

Our clothing is hand printed by our team at our warehouse which marks us as an 100% "American made" Brand. Our hats & cut & sew pieces are also outsourced right here in the state of California. Hence where the "DYNT California" Logo was derived, we take pride in our home where everyone on our team was raised. Although most brands claim cities, we claim the state considering our team member were raised ranging from SF to the IE to LA.

Our Vision:

We live a "Do It Yourself" lifestyle, we make sure everything that is done for our brand we put in some kind of handwork, reviewing, designing, planning, etc. No big investments, just a couple kids who had an idea, put some hard work in, & just did it. Our true vision is just to reach a pinnacle by working hard & of course doing what we want, and not what's traditionally expected. Event Recap | DYNT Gallery Reopening & Fall Release Party

You can't say we haven't warned everyone about how our events go, but we will say it again; "Our crew sure knows how to throw a party!" The week leading to this was hectic with a list of "to do's" that could hit the floor but we managed to get them done. The newly redone store was completed along with the first delivery of the season, I love seeing new tees on the racks.

The hard work definitely payed off, by 9 there was about 200+ people accounted for trying to find a way into the store. We had to tear down our window display to allow people & staff stuck outside to watch the fight & performances.

We played around on the mic for a second before the fight started to see who was going for Ortiz, three people spoke up.... Maybe there was more but they stayed quiet.

The two piece that was seen around the world that ended the fight.

After the fight Noa James & Stevie Crooks commenced to killing their performances! Footage coming soon.

"New York Nika" managed to get her hands on one of the "Duck Pocket Tees" these will be gone before I get a chance to put pictures up, think fast.

Soo, this week I had to change it up and slow it down. I've been down with this dude Jesse Boykins for a while now and this song really made it for me. It's nice, mellow and very relaxing to the ears. The video was actually put together very well, all the different random shots, the people, the water, the clouds pretty dope. The way this song was put together, almost seem's perfect. The tempo, the snare's, the extra sounds through out the beat are amazing. I wouldn't doubt the individual who created this was on some type of drug, Lol. I'm just saying. This is one of those songs you can have sex to, chill to, smoke to, play at an upscale party, anything, just something. I recently discovered this song is a cover to The Suburbs By: Arcade Fire, not to downplay there song but Mr. Little Jeans killed it.

So it seems that this video has caused a lil controversy in the twitter world today. We have been so busy prepping for a lot of upcoming events that we have been a lil slow on the blog posts for the past 12 days. As you can see yesterday we did a lil catching up with post of happenings from two weeks prior even longer. Well, here comes the good stuff; We posted this video yesterday, the video file was done a couple days prior along with all the recent snaps posts, etc. Another brand dropped their summer recap video and it happened to be the same song a day or so prior, pure coincidence. We were informed by a supporter that this became a major issue & we understand that we are a business and we need to keep things professional at times so we decided to make public statement from the brand to you:

"We understand the power of a coincidence happening, DYNT in no way, or how copied, duplicated, or intended to reproduce any person(s), group, or companies product, video, photo, etc. We understand that there is room for inspiration but in this case this was a pure coincidence & nothing more."

We understand an "outsider's looking in" perspective, seriously. This reminds me of when I was 15 putting out skate video parts on the hunt for the next best song to be the first & only to put it on my part. I also remember how mad I was to know that someone released a part with the same song. This is where maturity comes in, I understood that a song newly released is bound to have 30+ videos with the same song in the background, am I to chase them all down as well? It happens people, chill out.

On another note while we are on the subject, The song was "N*gga's in Paris" by Kanye & Jay-Z off of their newly released "Watch the Throne". Now on to another update! Hopefully this isn't a coincidence as well, If you have dropped by the shop in the last week you probably walked up to a window display that looks a little like this:

We have completely sold out of Summer, next time you shouldn't sleep. But that's not the reason we are closed, we are upgrading the shop for the rest of this month in preparation of DYNT Fall Release & the Re-Opening of a newly upgraded office. We are also developing better hours that are more consistent along with employees to keep the shop open on a daily basis. We want to make sure everything is perfect going into our 1 yr Anniversary. But If you know us, we don't like talking about it, we just like doing it. We were a little busy this week so this blog post should have been posted the day the sign and window went up. We apologize if you drove any distance to the shop and left with a disappointment.

Local's Only/Snaps | Pico to La Brea

The past week we spent numerous days around the city to for a couple meetings, networking & of course to chill with the homies. First stop was Pico's very own, The Trap House. We dropped by here to talk with Anwar about a couple projects including shooting his "WDYWT" Segment which is coming soon.

We spent a couple days at the recently opened, Black Scale La Brea location working on a project with Mega along side with Melloe Won.

This store is put together well, with a clean and simplistic aesthetic with very graphic & bold visuals to complete it's look.

Mega has a lot of knowledge & experience in this industry and being able to work with & hear his stories was pretty chill. We respect the boldness he has to produce the darker graphics in this industry, we got a chance to peep out what's in store for future seasons be on the look out. Shout out to Mega & his crew, definitely laid back dudes that showed us love, it is appreciated.

On a Side Note, I was contemplating jacking Berto for his salad while we were waiting for Mega on the block.

RECAP | Ladies Love Summer Jamz

Last week we made an appearance in Hollywood for the "Ladies Love Summer Jamz" Event & Concert with our good friend Stevie Crooks Headlining. He opened up talking shit to the crowd including the random broad yelling "put on some house music". Funny that he told me he was gonna talk shit before he got on stage. Performing some of his newer work, he lyrically killed it, not to mention is was wearing our red "Gutter Life" tee. We recommend that you don't sleep on him. The diverse crowd showed us a lot of love, maybe it was our hood display, or the posters we posted all over the place..... enjoy:

We haven't posted an update on our blog for about a week now. Fortunately we've been very busy working and planning for Fall '11. We recently closed the store for about a month, we are going to be doing a little remodeling, so the next time your come into the shop it will be filled with many items. We would also like to Thank everyone who has been supporting our brand and keeping our lifestyle afloat. On a side note, we have some new music for you guys out there. Mateo and I have been continuously playing this guy on an everyday bases at the shop and on the road. He goes by " ASAP Rocky " from Harlem. Here's one of his videos, check him out.
